In Lignano Riviera the exhibition that showcases sustainable design objects born from the transformation of plastic waste from seaside tourism
LIGNANO SABBIADORO – What if today's summer waste could be transformed into tomorrow's summer furnishings? This is the challenge of Coastal Design, the project of the Menti Libere association – created with the support of the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia, in collaboration with Legambiente Fvg, SpiaggiaViva Consortium, Circolo Cas'Aupa, The(Greenhouses and Accademia Tiepolo Udine – which brings a new idea of sustainability to the beaches of the Northern Adriatic: transforming waste from seaside tourism into design objects, through creativity and upcycling. Il progetto arriverà al suo momento conclusivo domenica 30 August, give her 18, at the mouth of the Tagliamento river, al Bar Sunriver, near the X-River boat launch in Lignano Riviera (Adriatic Avenue).
THE PROJECT – After months of collecting materials along the Friulian coast, a training course dedicated to creative reuse and collaboration with local artisan and commercial businesses, the time has finally come to reveal the result of the project to the public. The protagonists of the initiative are the four young under artists 35 – Carlotta Casalone, Maria Paola Fogliato, Michela Longone e Anna Martinatti – che nei mesi scorsi sono state selezionate attraverso una open call nazionale lanciata sempre da Menti Libere. Starting from materials that normally end up in waste, as vacuum cooking bags, polystyrene, hard plastics and fishing nets (just to name a few), the artists have given life to some of the most iconic objects of the seaside holiday: deckchair, sunbeds, umbrellas and accessories. The result is a collection that overturns perspective: what mass tourism leaves behind, as waste, it becomes raw material for imagining a new way of experiencing the beach.
HE PARTY – The evening will open with the release party, the moment in which the furniture collection will be presented to the public for the first time. A real return to the territory: the same materials collected along the coast return in the form of objects capable of narrating a new relationship between consumption, creativity and environment. At the same time, workshops open to the public dedicated to the creative reuse of plastic will be offered, to experience firsthand the possibilities offered by upcycling and discover how even daily waste can acquire a second life. The evening will close with music. By the river, the Modular collective will curate a DJ set with Brucaliff, The Very Selecta and Gino Grasso at Bar Sunriver: a finale full of conviviality, of music and the desire to be together, without losing sight of the environmental message at the center of the entire project. Coastal Design was in fact born with the aim of demonstrating, through art as a universal language, that today's waste can become tomorrow's creative resources.
The appointment is free, with reservation required via email below.
