Migrart: Srotolare il confine – Il racconto, the stages and the official map of the project
The project “Migrart: Unroll the border” has been developing since March 2025 to May 2026, divided into three main phases which transversally involved the Friulian regional territory and the Italian-Slovenian cross-border area, building a cultural ecosystem capable of crossing geographical borders, generational and disciplinary.
1. Participatory Art and Urban Redevelopment
The body related to participatory art, between March 2025 and April 2026, saw three actions taking place in the municipalities of:
Portogruaro (March/April 2025)
Udine (June 2025)
Isonzo novels (February/April 2026)
Through creative workshops conducted with children from local youth centres, the educators of Damatrà and the artists of the project, three participatory urban redevelopment interventions were carried out which transformed public spaces into places of collective expression and intergenerational dialogue.
The action of Romans d'Isonzo has taken on a particular inclusive value, involving elderly people, children, young people and asylum seekers in a journey that ended with a collective parade open to the community 12 April 2026.
2. The Widespread Collective Exhibition and the Artistic Residencies
In the second phase, the heart of the project was the implementation, dal 17 al 26 October, from the collective exhibition spread between Gorizia and Nova Gorica, curated by Eva Comuzzi and Annalia Boldrin.
The exhibition saw the participation of five young artists, of which four were selected through an international open call and one, Spartak Khachanov, who created his work within a residency program. The works, conceived site-specific, they dialogued with the places that hosted them, giving the public a contemporary and profound reflection on the theme of the border, experienced as a space of meeting rather than separation.
In the same period a spinoff event with drummer Pietro Vicentini took place at the de headquarters The Greenhouse del partner Coop. Zero Point, il 4 October.
3. Primavera 2026: Performance on the Territory and the Final Talk
The final phase, in the spring 2026, included the event “Diari in Bicicletta” of the 21 March, with the performances of Aida Talliente and Giorgio Parisi as part of a cross-border cycle tour between the Italian Collio and the Slovenian Brda, which transformed the landscape itself into a stage. The event was anticipated, il 15 March, from a collective clean-up activity of the Isonzo River, in the Gorizia area, in which around twenty volunteers from the Association were involved.
The rich month of March ended with the second artistic residency it involved, between Italy and Slovenia, the Friulian photographer Davide Degano, producing a photographic work site-specific capable of providing an intimate and authentic look at the places and communities of the border.
The final stage of the entire journey was the national talk of 13 May with the anthropologist Marco Aime in Cervignano del Friuli.
