MIR 3 open call
MIR 2022
Announcement aimed at the construction of an Artist Residence as part of the MigrArt In Residence Project in Lignano Sabbiadoro (UD), dal 3 to 8 October 2022
PREMISE
MigrArt In Residence is the third program of Contemporary Art Residency organized by the Menti Libere Association in Lignano Sabbiadoro (UD) with the support of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region and in collaboration with the Municipality of Lignano and other bodies and associations in the area.
The Association, active for ten years in the field of social promotion through participatory art, aims to carry out creative projects that deseasonalize the seaside resort.
The residence was created to culturally stimulate and raise awareness of a seaside community that, outside the crowded summer season, lives under the banner of a bare creative and aggregative environment.
The goal of the short residency that will take place, except impossibilities that may arise from this period, dal 3 to 8 October is to stimulate reflection on the dichotomous reality of Lignano but also to encourage the equally difficult encounter between young emerging artists, established artists on the national scene and the host territory.
In fact, they will be Michele Bazzana, Ryts Monet and Kristian Sturi, the three Friulian artists, now consolidated at national level, called to set up the collective exhibition with their works and to play the role of tutor for the six emerging artists under 30 selected by the organization.
Under the watchful eye of the curator Eva Comuzzi, the three main artists will in fact accompany the young artists for the week of the residency in setting up the collective within the various exhibition centers but also in the elaboration of a reflection on the singular context in which they find themselves working., that of a hibernating seaside resort.
During the days of residence foreseen by the 3 to 8 October, the organization will take care of carrying out short guided tours in some emblematic spaces of the locality in order to offer artists a wider socio-cultural landscape overview.
To underline this theme, the organization has decided to structure the exhibition in a path including various spaces, institutional ones but also more informal ones with great symbolic value such as some premises that remain vacant in the extra-seasonal months.
October 8 will be the moment of the inauguration in the presence of the curator and the artists. During the residency and in the following months, meetings and talks will be organized with artists and students from the Academies of Udine and Venice.
