MigrArt In Residence // MIR4
MigrArt In Residence is the fourth Contemporary Art Residency program organized by the Associazione Menti Libere with the support of the Friuli-Venezia Giulia Region and in collaboration with the Municipality of Lignano and other bodies and associations of the regional territory and neighboring Slovenia. The Association, active for ten years in the field of social promotion through participatory art, aims to create creative projects that deseasonalize the Adriatic town of Lignano. The residence was created to culturally stimulate and raise awareness of a seaside community that, outside the crowded summer season, lives under the banner of a bare creative and aggregative environment. The residence that has taken place since 2 al 7 October in Lignano was both to stimulate a reflection on the dichotomous reality of Lignano but also to encourage the equally difficult meeting between young emerging artists, established artists on the national scene and the host territory.
In fact, they were Michele Bazzana, Ryts Monet and Kristian Sturi, the three Friulian artists, now consolidated at national level, called to set up with their works the collective exhibition inaugurated on 7 October and to act as tutor to the six emerging artists under 30 selected after an open call. The selected artists of the edition 2023 they were Claudia Amatruda, Valentina Bobbo, Luigi Chiapolino, Erica Londero, Cosimo and the Austrian Simon Reitman who worked for a week in the suggestive temporary atelier of Terrazza a Mare.
Under the watchful eye of curator Eva Comuzzi and assistant Annalia Boldrin, the three main artists accompanied the young artists for the week of residency in developing a reflection on the singular context in which they found themselves working, that of a seaside resort in transit from summer lights to winter hibernation. During the days of residence foreseen in Lignano from 2 al 7 of October, the organization took care of carrying out short guided tours in some emblematic spaces of the seaside resort in order to offer the artists a broader landscape and socio-cultural overview, from scenically rich areas to artisanal sites or abandoned theme parks. In parallelo dal 1° ottobre si svolto il secondo programma della residenza artistico-esplorativa a Pesariis, in Carnia, with video artist Anouk Chambaz, who then went to Lignano for the final exhibition together with the photographer Raffaele Saviano, invited by the Organization to present a work on the real estate situation in Lignano. The final exhibition, titled PINK BUM BAM with a quote from the famous 80s TV show, as usual it was structured in a route including the Terrace a Mare and the Municipal Library. Many topics covered, from the historical quotes of Hemingway and the revolt that in '58 brought the independence of the Municipality of Lignano from that of Latisana to inclusiveness, from the relationship with the disease to the abandonment of some iconic spaces.
PINK BUM BAM ushered in the 7 October with a large turnout of young audiences, enthusiastic about the virtuous exhibition result of the artistic residency.
In March 2024, on the occasion of the #CleaninMarch8 week, the summary catalog of all three past editions will also be published from 2021 to date.
